The future perspectives for the development of Armenian-Iranian defense cooperation were discussed

On January 31st, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan, who is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Dehghani.

The head of the Iranian defense administration welcomed the Armenian delegation and congratulated them on the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian army. Highlighting the high level of relations between Armenia and Iran, the heads of the defense administrations of the two countries expressed willingness to widen and develop bilateral relations.

Vigen Sargsyan noted that in order to further deepen Armenian-Iranian cooperation, it is necessary to organize a mechanism for regular meetings and consultations.

In addition to questions concerning bilateral relations, questions concerning international and regional security and armed conflict resolution issues were discussed during the meeting.

Speaking about the resolution of the NKR conflict, and expressing the importance of efforts aimed at sustaining peace and stability in the region, both sides highlighted the necessity to resolve the issue exclusively through negotiations.
At the end of the meeting, Vigen Sargsyan and Hossein Dehghani held a joint press conference, during which they summarized the results of the meetings that had just taken place.

On the same day, the delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia visited the "Maleq Ashtar" university in Tehran, one of the specialties of which is the implementation of programs concerning the field of defense. Noting that the military industrial complex is one of the most importance fields in Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan highlighted the need to deepen Armenian-Iranian cooperation in science as well.

Later, the delegation visited "Iranian Electronics Industries," which specializes in planning and implementing technological solutions in defense.

The delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia paid respects at the memorial dedicated to the memory of sacred defense unknown martyrs on January 31st.
