Armenia, Iran extended gas for electricity deal until 2030

On August 10, the agreement to expand and enhance the volume of gas-for-electricity barter deal was signed in Yerevan in the Ministry of Terrotorial Administration and Infrastructure of RA. The signatories from two sides were Aram Ghazaryan, the chief executive officer of the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (Yerevan TPC) and Majid Chegini, Iran’s deputy minister of oil and the chief executive officer of the Iranian National Gas Company (NIGC), in the presence of the officials of the two countries. The agreement was extended until 2030.

Gnel Sanosyan, the Armenian minister of Terrotorial Administration and Infrastructure who was present in the event in his remarks noted: “the extension of the deal will have positive impact on the economic development of two countries and is one of the best aspects in the friendly relations of Armenia and Iran”.

Chegini, the Iranian deputy minister, noted the deal will contribute to the development of relations between two countries.
