“The first International Congress for Women of Influence”

The first International Congress for women of Influence was held on 20 January in Tehran.

Anna Hakobyan spouse of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, Minister of Health and Stella Sarukhanyan, marketing advisor of Green Path company from R. of Armenia were participating in the congress.

It should be noted that 300 foreign guests of influential women from various aspects; culture, science, health etc. attended the congress.

Armenian MP’s spouse Anna Hakobyan addressing in the congress mentioned the role of women in Armenia in different spheres such as politics, health, armed forces. In her speech Anna Hakobyan pointed out her initiative “Women for Peace” campaign which failed due to 44-day war, in this sense she mentioned the stance of Azerbaijan towards Armenia in war aftermath; the aggression on sovereign territory of Armenia, detain of PoWs, maltreatment to corpse, adding that this war was a war against freedom, democracy and peace noting that during the war period she referred to the first ladies of a number of states by an open letter.

Elsewhere in her speech A. Hakobyan spoke about the recent incidents and blocking the sole life road between Artsakh and Armenia by fake environmental activists of Azerbaijan, risking the life of 120 000 population, depriving them from essential goods, health, education etc. adding that Azerbaijan is pursuing the policy of ethnic cleansing towards the Armenian of Artsakh, she further noted in order to prevent these actions it is necessary that international community shows its voice for condemnation.

Armenian PM’s spouse at the end appreciated and thanked the organizers of the congress; Jamileh Sadat Alamolhoda, the spouse of the President of the I.R. of Iran and Ensieh Khazali, Vice-president for women and Family affairs and expressed the readiness of Armenia in holding “the second International Congress for women of Influence”, the idea was hailed by Mrs. Alamolhoda, the Iranian president’s spouse.

In the sidelines of the congress A. Hakobyan visited an exhibition showcasing the achievements of successful Iranian women where she also answered the questions from media agents.

Worth to mention that a number of documents and MOU s were signed during the congress in order to promote bilateral interactions in cultural, academic, sport and health spheres.

There were some award winners in the congress and it was concluded to establish a fund which will be offered to the next winners.
