Ambassador of Armenia received Secretary General of Assyrian Universal Alliance

On August 21, Ambassador Toumanian received Yonathan Betkolia, Secretary General of Assyrian Universal Alliance, member of the Islamic Cosultative Assembly (Majles) of Iran, and Karen Khanlarian, representative of the Armenians of the northern constituency in the Islamic Cosultative Assembly.
MP Betkolia presented the activities of Alliance and Assyrian Diaspora. He expressed his gratitude to the Armenian authorities and people for recognizing Assyrian Genocide commited by the Ottoman Empire. Meanwhile, he stressed with delight that for the first time an Assyrian MP had been elected to the Armenian National Assembly through the quota allocated to ethnic minorities.
In his turn, Abassador Toumanian spoke about centuries-long friendship and historico-cultural ties between Armenian and Assyrian peoples.
