Alen Simonyan, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia heading a delegation paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from June 14-17, 2022.

On June 15 the President of the Armenian NA had meeting with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran (Majles).

During the meeting issues regarding the interparliamentary, political and economic cooperation were discussed.

Following the meeting two sides had a press conference.

The President of the Armenian NA invited his counterpart to visit the R. of Armenia.

On June 15, 2022 the President of the Armenian NA, Alen Simonyan along the delegation was received by Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The interlocutors discussed the collaboration between the legislative bodies, bilateral economic cooperation and operation of joint plans on infrastructure.

The President of the Armenian NA extended the warm greetings of the Prime Minister of the R. of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, to the President of the I.R. of Iran reconfirming the invitation for the official visit to Armenia.

President of the I.R. of Iran stressed on the collaboration of the legislative bodies to foster the existing warm relations between Armenia and Iran.

On June 16, 2022, Alen Simonyan, the President of the Armenian NA had meeting with Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

During the meeting the sides pointed out the 30 years diplomatic relations, the interests of the Iranian side on investments in Syunik province of the R. of Armenia stressing the establishment of the General Consulate of the I.R. of Iran in Kapan and the necessity of the establishment of General Consulate of the R. of Armenia in Tabriz correspondently.

In the framework of the visit of the President of the Armenian NA to the I.R. of Iran a separate meeting was held between the members of Armenia-Iran parliamentary friendship group of the Armenian NA and the members of Iran-Armenia parliamentary friendship group of the Islamic Parliament of Iran where the issues related to expansion of the cooperations in the spheres of economy, agriculture, energy and other fields were discussed.
