“Specimen of Qajar Art of Matenadaran”

Ceremony of the debut of the album book of “Specimen of Qajar Art of Matenadaran” authored by Yvette Tajarian, senior researcher in the department of Oriental studies in Matenadaran, Reseach Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan, took place on 28 June, in Tehran “Ardak Manoumian” Armenian museum. Iranian and Armenian officials and intellectuals were the guest in this event.

After the greeting words of the director of the museum Ms. Shahmouradian, Ms Tajarian the author of the book introduced the exquisite book to the audience. Later Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, prelate of the Armenian community, Mir Seyyed Ahmad Mohit Tabatabaie, the president of the Iran-ICOM (International Council of Museums) and Garik Grigoryan , second secretary of the Armenian Embassy in Tehran in their remarks appreciated the valuable work of Ms. Tajarian. Mr. Grigoryan in his speech noted “each copy of this book is an ambassador in the relations of Armenia and Iran, the authenticity of a nation is not only through the attitude towards its own culture but through the attitude to other cultures, Matenadaran and Ms. Tajarian has had a great role in this regard”.

The album book of “Specimen of Qajar Art of Matenadaran” by Y.Tajarian is an effort to present the art in reign of Qajar from the perspective of theoretical art, the book includes more than hundred selection of miniature, gilding and traditional resin made book cover which can be an incentive for inter-cultural research works in the future.
