Iran and Armenia facilitate transit

Upon the invitation of Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the R. of Armenia, Mehrdad Bazrpash, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the I. R. of Iran paid a one day working visit to Armenia and was received by Minister Sanosyan, on Oct 23.

In the meeting of two ministers which was held prior to the signing of the contract for the International North-South Road Corridor (INSTC) Investment Project - Tranche 4, Sanosyan highly appreciated the deepening and expansion of economic cooperation with Iran, a component of which is the existence of a safe and quality infrastructure system.

The issue of road tax was discussed in the meeting and an agreement was reached to reduce road tolls to zero. An agreement was also reached to promote the participation of Iranian companies in Armenian construction processes, particularly in school construction and road construction projects.

Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Bazerpash said: the Republic of Armenia has a unique opportunity in the INSTC, and there is a good route from Yerevan. he also added that Iranian companies and experts have good experience in construction projects and Iran is ready to offer the Iranian expertise to Armenian side.
