Yerevan State Chamber theater performed in the 41st Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran

“Hamlet” written by William Shakespeare was performed on the 41st Fadjr International Theater Festival on Sunday, Jan.29, by the troupe from the State Chamber Theater of Yerevan.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the R. of Armenia to the I.R. of Iran, Arsen Avagyan, along with his spouse , Counsellors of the Embassy, Sergey Grigoryan and Aram Manookyan along with their spouses as well attended the evening.

According to Ara Yernjakyan, the art director of the Chamber , they chose “Hamlet” to perform in Fajr Festival since it is a well known playwright all over the world, besides the performance had subtitle explanation in Farsi and received well by Iranian Audience. In the sidelines of the festival Yernjakyan also met The director of the General Office for Dramatic Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Kazem Nazari and discussed the ways to expand the collaboration.

Regarding the performance the director of Chamber, Lusine Yernjakyan noted that some slight technical changes were made in order to adapt the Iranian atmosphere but the original structure of the play was kept, the ladies wore headscarf and some dancing gestures were limited.

The Play went on stage twice and received very well by the full audience.
