TRIO concert honoring Aram Khachaturian’s 120th anniversary

On August 23, “Aram Khachaturian Trio” went on the stage in “Komitas” hall of Ararat sport and cultural association in Tehran. The event was a tribute to the Armenian iconic composer and conductor Aram Khachaturian’s 120^th anniversary.

The performance of the TRIO comprised of Armine Grigoryan, piano, Karen Shahgaldyan, violin, and Karen Kocharyan; cello received a large round of applause by audience. “Masquerade” incidental music written by Khachaturian for a production of Mikhail Lermontov's play , the ballets of “Spartacus” and “Gayane” were parts of the repertoire.

In the sidelines of TRIO’s visit to Tehran the group paid a courtesy visit to the Prelate of the Armenian Diocese in Tehran, Archbishopp Sebouh Sarkissian, the role of the TRIO’s performance and this types of events in developing the cultural diplomacy and strengthening Armenia-Iran relations was pointed out during the meeting.

The event and visit of Khachaturian TRIO to Tehran was financially supported by the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the R. of Armenia in collaboration with the Armenian Embassy in the I.R. of Iran and the Armenian Ararat sport/cultural association.
