On May 15-18, 2022 Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia paid a tree days official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On May 15, the Armenian Minister attended the 26th Int’l Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition of Iran and got introduced to the achievements and experiences of the Iranian companies in the relevant fields.

In the opening ceremony of the mentioned exhibition Artashes Toumanian, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the R. of Armenia had been present as well.

On May, 16 G. Sanosyan, met Rostam Ghasemi, Iranaian Minister of Roads and Urban Development. During the meeting Armenian Minister underlined the importance of construction of Syunik section of North-South freeway for Armenian party which will facilitate the movement of Iranian freight trucks in future.

Iranian Minister stated that Tabriz-Nurduz new road is being built in Iranian side which will shorten the transit route from Iran to Armenia.

On May 16, Armenian Minister had meeting with Javad Owji, Iranian Oil Minister where the interlocutors discussed issues of bilateral cooperation as: the gas vs. electricity project, oil refining, asphalt price etc., Iranian Oil Minister underlined the gas network of Iran is ready to start the operation of gas swap service from Turkmenistan to Armenia.

On May 17, Mr. Sanosyan visited Tehran-North freeway and got familiar with the engineering capabilities and technical abilities of Iranian companies in the field of road construction and called for the cooperation for finishing and expansion of South – North transportation corridor construction activities between Armenia and Iran.

During this visit Kheyrollah Khademi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development and CEO of Iran’s Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Co., presented the technical description of construction of about 121 km long Tehran-North freeway undertaken in Alborz Mountain range.
