Meetings of members of Armenian Government with Iranian Delegation

Invited by Narek Mkrtchyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the R. of Armenia, Seyyed Solat Mortazavi, Minister of Cooperatives Labor and Social Welfare of the I. R. of Iran, heading a delegation visited Armenia to discuss the possibilities of cooperation between two countries regarding the fields of social affairs. Iranian Ambassador, Deputy Ministers from both sides, officials and experts were present in the meeting.

Issues on establishing care centers for disable people, pension beneficiaries, employment and social security affairs and establishing vocational training centers, proposed by Iranian side, were discussed, it was concluded to materialize the agreed points and exchange experiences.

On February 27, Seyyed Solat Mortazavi, Minister of Cooperatives Labor and Social Welfare of the I. R. of Iran, heading a delegation were received by Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures. Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Abedin Varamin, Iran’s General Consul in Kapan, Vardan Kostanyan, representative from the Armenian Embassy in the I. R. of Iran as well as other officials were present in the meeting.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on mutually interested issues and pointed out the potentials and role of Iranian companies in infrastructure developing projects in Armenia. As the Armenian minister mentioned “we have expanded the road building scales many times more, also we have expanded the infrastructure construction scales, it means we need more construction companies and human resources, we will be glad to see the Iranian companies’ participation in relevant fields”.

Solat Mortazavi, mentioned the Iranian companies in private sector have great potentials and are ready to have their role in construction projects of roads, rail way and tunnels.

On February 27, Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (ESCS) of the R. of Armenia, received Seyyed Solat Mortazavi, Minister of Cooperatives, labor and Social Welfare of the I. R. of Iran. Arthur Martirosyan and Araxia Svajyan, Deputies of the Armenian minister were present in the meeting as well.

In the meeting Mortazavi, the Iranian minister, noted the experience of Iran regarding vocational training and education of mid-level expertise and offered the readiness of Iranian side to have cooperation with Armenian party in this regard, which was received by Armenian minister of ESCS particularly like the institute working in Syunik.

The sides discussed the mutual cooperation in learning Farsi language in public schools of Armenia. Andreasyan, the Armenian minister pointed out the effective cooperation of the Embassy of the I. R. of Iran in the R. of Armenia in this case adding “We have focused on teaching languages of the region and Farsi as well since last September, I believe this issue is significant point in fostering the public diplomacy”.

On February 28, Vahan Kerobyan, Minister of Economy of the R. of Armenia, received Seyyed Solat Mortazavi, Minister of Cooperatives, labor and Social Welfare of the I. R. of Iran.

The Armenian Minister expressed satisfaction regarding the trade exchange between two countries pointing to the increase of the previous two years receiving to 700 million USD in 2022.

The interlocutors concluded that there is ground to increase the volume and enhance the cooperation in diverse sides as well. In this regard the Iranian side pointed the old history of relations with Armenia adding the interest in expanding the ties to reach the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) markets through Armenia.

The sides also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in economic free zones framework and involving the Iranian companies in economic various spheres.
